About

I was born in Havana, Cuba where even as a child, I sensed there was more to life than what we could see. For as long as I can remember, I have longed for a peaceful life. Not a perfect one — a peaceful one.

People have always moved me: their emotions and their stories. That fascination led me to the study of Psychology and Religious Studies at Florida International University, where I began to understand both the science of the mind and the mystery of the soul. It was there that meditation found me.

Life has continued to bring its share of difficulty. For years, I have walked alongside the heartbreak of watching my sister struggle with mental health, addiction, and homelessness. Loving someone deeply while being unable to help them led me to distant healing work. To Reiki sent across the miles, offered with intention and love, when presence is not possible. It has deepened my spiritual practice and taught me that healing does not require proximity. It requires an open heart.

Through it all, meditation, prayer, and a cherished support system have been my anchors. These experiences have made me more compassionate, more present, and more certain than ever that inner peace is not the absence of hardship. It is what carries us through it.

I went on to earn a Master's in Business Administration, but the greatest education I've ever received has been the path of well-being and inner harmony. That childhood longing for peace — the one that never left me — turned out to be a calling. And the greatest gift I can offer is to share what I've found, especially with those walking through their own storms.

When I was seven months pregnant, my mother suddenly slipped into a coma. In one of the most vulnerable moments of my life — carrying new life while fearing the loss of the woman who gave me mine — I leaned deeply into a new practice, Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT Tapping. Tapping brought me real time relief.  Reiki reminded me of the light within. These practices truly have held me.

Zana Wellness was born from this devotion. It is a space where well-being is honored. Whether you are navigating grief, a life transition, chronic stress, or simply a longing to feel more whole — I am here to walk beside you.

With love,

Dorian Acker
